For my grandpa it was a good opportunity to share a passion with friends but especially an occasion to indulge in good food! Looking at this picture of the ” Salumi Madama” team you can tell that some riders, such as Pietro “La Bomba” Bottone (third from the left), were more skilled in this area than others, lol. By the way, I really would like to thank Mr. Pietro for giving me his Wilier Triestina Pantani Replica as a present. He was riding up until a few years ago.
The guy on the right with the white jersey is Antonio Madama, my grandpa, president of this “amateur” team in 1976. It was so much fun for him.
Especially in the region I come from there were plenty of these small teams, but as I told you, the real purpose wasn’t really winning races but enjoying the meal before and after!
